I've Been Where You Are.
I got sober in January 2006. I started working in this field in 2009. Those are two different numbers and I keep them separate on purpose — one is my own recovery, the other is how long I've been doing this work with other men. People collapse them into one number all the time. I don't.
The Short Version
Thirteen-plus years inside residential treatment — group facilitator, then program director. Dual diagnosis outreach. Peer recovery coaching. I've sat across from hundreds of guys at every stage of this, and I've been on the other side of that chair myself.
I'm not a clinician. I don't have a degree that says I understand you — I have a life that does. That's the whole premise of Away Recovery: authority that comes from having lived it, not from a credential on a wall.
What I've Built
Away Recovery — one-on-one intensives, group reboots, and the reflection workbooks, all built around the same idea: meet a guy where he actually is, not where a program assumes he is.
I also facilitate groups at Insight Recovery in Winchester, MA, co-host a podcast with Steve Kent there, and run a free Friday night meeting for men in New Bedford, MA.
Credentials
NCPRSS — National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist. Certified firewalk and empowerment facilitator.
Why This Work
I spent years managing my life instead of living it — sober, functional, and still stuck. Nobody handed me a program that fit that. I built one.
